In 1921, Paul Donley established Donley Seed after returning home from World War 1. What started out as a very small business very quickly grew to a successful operation, evolving to a seed cleaning business known as The Old Elevator. In the 1950s and 1960s, we began offering more and more products, and began leading the feed and seed industry. As of now, we are under new management, and we are constantly looking to grow and expand our product lines to meet your needs.

With only two owners, three employees and one mascot, we are dedicated to providing you with a one-on-one experience every time you visit. Our owners, David and Keelie Wurster, are longtime residents and supporters of the Ashland area. Their family raises all of the beef and some of the pork sold in our store. You know every animal from their farm is treated with love and respect.

Longtime employee, Jon McCoy, has worked for The Old Elevator since 1997. He has more knowledge of our lawn and bird seed than anyone. He has remained a valuable employee through the transition of having new ownership.

Emily Bone, who has worked at The Old Elevator since 2014, has brought a whole new outlook to our store. She has revamped the farm animal feed section in our store to support local 4-H and FFA members, and she helped start our collection of novelty items and bird houses.

Finally, our store mascot, Otis the Rabbit, brings lots of attention to the store; children adore him. He loves to hop around and sit atop the feed and seed bags. When you visit the store, be sure to say hello, and maybe you can even give him a treat!

Each employee has their own strengths that they bring to the table, and therefore, offer you their best available knowledge. We pride ourselves in being well rounded about all aspects of our business. Here at The Old Elevator, everyone is family. Stop in and get to know us better, so you can become part of our O.E. family! We look forward to seeing you!

Since our upbringing in 1921, we have resided in Ashland, Ohio, taking pride in being one of the most knowledgeable source for state tested seeds and feeds, and more importantly, fully understanding our customers. Anyone could make good seed, feed, and natural meats, but what has set us apart from our competition since 1921 is our understanding of our customers. You need healthy options to feed your family and pets. You deserve the best looking lawn. Your livestock are so much happier grazing on a pasture from natural seeds. Unlike many other stores, we truly know why their happiness – and yours – is important. We live on the farms that produce our seeds, feed, and meats, and take tremendous care to produce healthy, natural products for your families and ours. We also pride ourselves in helping and supporting our local community. We host American Red Cross Blood Drives several times throughout the year, and also support the junior fair livestock auctions at the Ashland County Fair.
